WWF and clean energy

At WWF, we’re at the front line in the fight to protect our amazing world, helping to restore the world’s wildlife, rivers, forests and seas. But our research shows that unless we urgently tackle climate change, up to half of all species from the world’s most precious places could be lost by the end of this century.

The good news is that we can all make a difference. Switching to clean energy is one way we can help set the world on a path to a brighter future, where people and nature can thrive. The situation is urgent. The challenges are huge. We know it’s possible – but we need your support.

What is clean energy?

Clean energy is power generated from renewable sources – sun, wind, water (rivers, tides or wave power) and biofuels (usually gas released by rotting food and agricultural waste). Unlike electricity generated by burning dirty fossil fuels like oil, coal and gas, clean energy has very little impact in terms of climate change and air pollution.

More power to do good

When you switch through us, Big Clean Switch receives a commission from the energy supplier. This doesn’t affect the price of the tariffs, which are the same price (or even less) as they are on the suppliers’ websites. Once Big Clean Switch has paid for the cost of processing the switch, we pass a third of the commission to WWF.

Rather than taking this money, WWF is looking to use it to support a community energy project that puts solar panels on schools in Greater Manchester. The more people we can get to switch, the more solar panels that can go up! A suitable school will be chosen based on the fund available.
