Rated 'Excellent' on TrustPilot

“I have always wanted to change to a renewable energy company but was daunted by the process. Big Clean Switch made it very easy and answered all of my questions politely and patiently! The chat box helpline was fantastic and the same advisor helped me right up until I had switched.”

What is green energy?

‘Green energy’ means power generated from the elements – sun, wind, water (rivers, tides or wave power) and biofuels (gas released by rotting food and agricultural waste). Unlike dirty electricity generated by burning fossil fuels (oil, coal and gas), green energy is renewable and has little impact in terms of climate change and air pollution.

How do green tariffs work?

Picture the National Grid like a big pond. When you’re on a renewable tariff, your supplier promises to match the amount you take out of the pond by putting the same amount of clean water in. The more clean water that goes into the pond (and the less dirty water), the cleaner the pond, and therefore the Grid, gets.
