Most homes in the UK are on what’s known as a ‘standard variable’ tariff with one of the Big Six energy suppliers. All of those people are guaranteed to save money by switching to the cheapest clean tariff. In fact, in some parts of the country, our cheapest supplier is within £25 a year of the very cheapest deal on the market, which means you get great value and clean electricity.
‘Clean energy’ means power generated from the elements – sun, wind, water (rivers, tides or wave power) and biofuels (gas released by rotting food and agricultural waste). Unlike dirty electricity generated by burning fossil fuels (oil, coal and gas), clean energy has little impact in terms of climate change and air pollution.
