WWF and clean energy

WWF are on the front line in the fight to protect our amazing world, helping to restore the world’s wildlife, rivers, forests and seas. But their research shows that unless we urgently tackle climate change, up to half of all species from the world’s most precious places could be lost by the end of this century.

The good news is that we can all make a difference, which is why WWF has teamed up with Big Clean Switch. Switching to clean energy is one way we can help set the world on a path to a brighter future, where people and nature can thrive. We know it’s possible – but we all need to take action.

What is clean energy?

Clean energy is power generated from renewable sources – sun, wind, water (rivers, tides or wave power) and biofuels (usually gas released by rotting food and agricultural waste). Unlike electricity generated by burning dirty fossil fuels like oil, coal and gas, clean energy has very little impact in terms of climate change and air pollution.

More power to do good

When you switch through Big Clean Switch, we receive a commission from the energy supplier. This doesn’t affect the price of the tariffs, which are the same price (or even less) as they are on the suppliers’ websites. Once we have paid for the cost of processing the switch, we pass half the commission to WWF.

WWF plans to use these funds to support a community energy project that puts solar panels on schools in Greater Manchester. The more people we can get to switch, the more solar panels that can go up!
