Switching with solar panels

If you’ve got solar panels, don’t worry – you are still free to switch your supply to a different provider in exactly the same way as a house without solar panels.

This is because your Feed In Tariff operates as a separate contract. Remember, the Feed in Tariff is a government subsidy that is paid to you via your Feed in Tariff contract. Although you can change which company you use to administer the payments (they earn a small amount for processing them), there’s little benefit in doing so, as the price you get for the energy won’t change.

But, that doesn’t mean you can’t change the company you buy your electricity from. Just switch as if you didn’t have solar panels, and your Feed in Tariff will remain unchanged.
